Overview

Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse (www.interfaithpartners.org) is a multi-religious nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, sexual violence, and elder abuse. Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse provides education, resources, and technical assistance to faith-based organizations and domestic and sexual violence advocates to catalyze partnerships and to create systemic change to support survivors and promote justice and long-term social change.

 

Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse’ approach to intervention and prevention prioritizes the safety of victims over any religious, political, or financial interests. Because domestic violence and elder abuse cut across all boundaries of religion, age, race, ethnicity, class, language, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and geography, Safe Havens works with many diverse communities.

 

Safe Havens Interfaith Partnership Against Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse is a fiscal sponsor client of Third Sector New England, Inc.(TSNE) (tsne.org). 

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Development, Outreach, and Faith Community Engagement is a full-time, senior level position, responsible for collaborating with and supporting the Director in all aspects of programming and administration of the Safe Havens organization, and also specifically responsible for:

 

Essential Functions

Agency Representation:

  • Support the Director in representing Safe Havens in community and national forums.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with funders, diverse faith community representatives, local and national service providers, and community partners.

Communications:

  • Responsible for all aspects of public relations, newsletters, social media, website and agency publications.
  • Responsible for maintaining communications platforms.

Financial Development and Viability:

  • Work with Director to write and report on grant activities.
  • Collaborate with Director on direct appeals and development of relationships with individual donors, constituents, and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining donor database.

Leadership and Management:

  • Supervise seminary interns, fellows, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with staff to accomplish mission of Safe Havens.

Organization Mission and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with Director in identifying and acting on new opportunities both locally and nationally and building capacity around emerging issues.
  • Address theological and scriptural issues at the intersection of faith and abuse.

Program Development:

  • Collaborate with Director to develop programming for national and local audiences.
  • Assist Director in management, evaluation, and reporting of programming.

Social Justice:

  • Lead in centering agency’s work to end racism, ageism, homophobia, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hatred and oppression, diversify staff and program participants, reach out to marginalized and underserved communities, and welcome everyone to take their part in Safe Havens’ work and journey.

  

The Assistant Director will maintain Safe Havens’ office-wide performance standards by adhering to values that are common to all Safe Havens staff, including but not limited to: working as a member of the Safe Havens team and endeavoring to recognize and understand others’ roles; upholding the highest ethical standards in every aspect of work; valuing the differences among and contributions of the Safe Havens staff and stakeholders; treating others with professionalism and courtesy.

 

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

 

  • MSW, Ed., MPA, MPH, M.Div., M.T.S., or BA with equivalent experience;
  • Minimum two years of experience in field of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or elder abuse;
  • Four to six years of organizational management experience;
  • Excellent organizational, communications, facilitation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge, comfort, and experience working with individuals and groups of diverse racial, cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds;
  • Extensive computer skills including experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel;
  • Grant writing and fundraising experience;
  • Ability to speak and teach about abuse and its effects on faith-affiliated victims;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both advocates and faith leaders;
  • Knowledge of U.S. Constitution and constraints on faith-based work that is supported by federal or state funds;
  • Experience with running social media, creating communications, donor data bases preferred;
  • Excellent writing, editing, facilitation, training, and public speaking skills;
  • Proven commitment to social justice (including work to end racism and other forms of oppression and full inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community) and to work in religious community to end domestic and sexual violence and elder abuse;
  • Ability to respond effectively to numerous and sometimes competing deadlines;
  • Flexibility to work demanding schedule that will include evenings and weekends and travel in state (car and valid driver’s license necessary) and nationwide. 

 

  • Specific Prerequisites: Ability to speak and teach scripturally and theologically about abuse and its effects on faith-affiliated victims and survivors.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to:

  • Handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds;
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate;
  • Job is not subject to significant occupational or environmental hazards;
  • Likelihood of personal injury would be relatively slight;

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Remote with occassional on-site meetings or trainings.

Schedule: Monday through Friday with occassional weekend and evening work.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $84,000-$87,000 and is commensurate with experience.
