Overview

The Massachusetts Voter Table (MVT) (mavotertable.org)uses integrated voter engagement to increase resources, representation, and power of people of color, working-class communities, young people, and new citizens. We convene a coalition of grassroots community organizations to integrate civic engagement with grassroots community organizing. Our core goals include building the capacity of community organizations, increasing civic action by dismantling structural barriers to voter participation and moving a collective agenda for racial and economic justice. The Massachusetts Voter Table is a fiscally sponsored organization of Third Sevtor new England, Inc. (TSNE) (tsne.org).

 

The Massachusetts Voter Table seeks a Member Mobilization Fellow to join the Massachusetts Voter Table team during the summer. The Mobilization Fellow will support field programs for nonpartisan voter education and mobilization within our MVT and DemHUBS partner network.

 

The Member Mobilization Fellow will learn about grassroots organizing, community mobilization, coalition building, and advocacy work while also gaining leadership skills, hands-on communications, event planning, and project expertise. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. This position reports to the Massachusetts Voter Table Field Organizer.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Support voter engagement efforts around the Fall Primaries, including:
    doorknocking events, education workshops/trainings, outreach tabling events,
    and voter registration drives;
  • Support and administer phone banks for nonpartisan voter education and
    grassroots advocacy;
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a Youth Action Week with key University and
    DemHUBS partners
  • Support MVT in administrative work (i.e. partner communications, note
    taking, meeting co-facilitation, database management, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

 

  • Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work well under pressure, be detail-oriented, and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to think independently and creatively;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Ability to engender trust with table partners and confidence in the work;
  • Must exercise good judgment and discretion and be able to work independently and as a member of a group;
  • Experiencing using the Voter Action Network system is highly desired, but not required;
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout the state; a driver's license is a plus;
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends;
  • Candidates who speak the following languages are encouraged to apply: Spanish, Cape Verdean Kriol, Chinese, Vietnamese, and/or Haitian Kreyol.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to:

  • Handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds;
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate;
  • Job is not subject to significant occupational or environmental hazards;
  • Likelihood of personal injury would be relatively slight;
  • Environmental and work hazards are not present to a measurable degree.

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be primarily performed hybrid with some in-person expectations (this position is open to all, but we shall be prioritizing undergraduate students and are encouraging those who reside in Springfield, Quincy, Lawrence, Lowell, Brockton, Salem, Worcester, and Boston to apply). The ideal candidate should have flexible evening and weekend availability.

Compensation: The houlry rate for this position is $20.00/ hour and is commensurate with experience. This is a part-time, temporary position of 10 hours/week and run from July thru September 30, 2025
