Open Circle provides training and K-8 curricula focusing on two goals:

  • Teaching children critical life skills related to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, interpersonal relationships, and positive decision-making and problem-solving
  • Fostering safe, caring, and engaging classrooms and learning communities

Since its inception in 1987, Open Circle has reached nearly a million children trained over 60,000 educators. Open Circle is currently used in schools across communities across the United States.

Responsibilities

This role focuses on growing our brand’s online presence, engaging our audience, and supporting the execution of our marketing strategy. Ideal candidates will have experience in social media content creation, digital marketing, and possess basic knowledge of website management and assist with curriculum management and marketing for fundraising. Ability to communicate with diverse clients, creativity, and organization skills are necessary. Your efforts will have a direct impact on the lives of children and educators in schools.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Increase public awareness of the organization through press releases, media relations and social media, social media networking, and other methods.
  • Develop, schedule, and post engaging content across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to increase brand visibility and engagement.
  • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social channels to build relationships and address inquiries.
  • Design, publish, and distribute marketing materials, including brochures, catalogs, registration forms, websites, newsletters, social media, and other publications
  • Collaborate with the team to create and execute marketing campaigns, including content ideas, graphics, and captions.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics to gauge the effectiveness of campaigns and suggest improvements.
  • Assist with email marketing, including drafting and scheduling mass mailings and newsletters.
  • Manage updates to and curriculum access on our website, such as adding links, access emails, and password information, event listings, or minor content changes, as needed.
  • Find Social-emotional research and related articles and research to repost
  • Research prospective funders and manage grant submission and reporting deadlines 
  • Help create strategies to strengthen fundraising activities and develop new funding relationships
  • Draft and edit proposals, concept papers, letters of intent and grant applications to corporate and foundation prospects and donors
  • Draft and edit progress and grant reports to donors
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices to incorporate fresh ideas and enhance our digital strategy.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

 

  • Previous experience in social media marketing and/or digital marketing.
  • Ability to manage complex projects from creation to completion, prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently with little oversight
  • Experience with or interest in social and emotional learning
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing marketing and outreach plans
  • Familiarity in grant-writing and management
  • Excellent writing skills and experience with a variety of writing forms (e.g. website, newsletters, social media, grants, correspondence)
  • Organized, efficient, and effective at time management
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Buffer, Later).
  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., Joomla, WordPress, Wix, or Squarespace) for simple updates.
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote or flexible environment.
  • Familiarity with Canva or basic graphic design tools is a plus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to:

  • Ability to sit and/or for extended periods in front of a computer screen is an essential aspect of the position.
  • Ability to travel, mainly within Massachusetts. 
  • There may be a need to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 15 pounds;.
  • Able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions;
  • Likelihood of personal injury would be relatively slight;
  • Environmental and work hazards are not present to a measurable degree. 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be primarily performed remotely from personal home office.

Schedule:  Less than half, up to 4 hours per week. This role requires the ability to work occasional mornings, nights and weekends.

Compensation: The starting pay for this position is $35.00/hr.

Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits.
