Communications and Creative Content Producer

Worker’s Justice Project (WJP) (workersjustice.org) was founded in 2010 to address the racial and economic injustices that low-wage immigrant workers face in New York City by building collective power to win institutional change. WJP runs two long-standing worker’s centers in Brooklyn. We promote justice and opportunity for low-wage immigrant workers in New York City by pushing for systematic enforcement and expansion of workplace protections, which include labor and occupational health and safety standards while advocating for industry-specific efforts to improve working conditions. Our communications team plays a vital role in engaging the broader public in our mission by amplifying the voices of immigrant workers, telling their stories, and building solidarity for  justice in the workplace.

WJP is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE (tsne.org).

The Communications and Creative Content Producer will lead our content creation, social media strategy, and multimedia storytelling efforts. They will report to the Director of Development and Communications and will work closely with workers, organizers, and the communications team to produce compelling content that highlights the defense of workers' rights and drives engagement. This role is ideal for a skilled communicator passionate about immigrant and workers’ rights, with expertise in content management, social media, and videography.

The Creative Content Producer is required to occasionally work some early mornings, evenings and weekends. The work performed is deemed Essential. The Communications and Creative Content Producer is responsible for ensuring that activities are conducted professionally, in a culturally sensitive manner, and in alignment with the organizational mission.

Essential Functions

Content Strategy & Management:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission and campaign goals.
• Manage the content calendar, ensuring timely, consistent, and impactful messaging across the organization’s press and social media platforms.
• Write, edit, and publish quotes for blog posts, newsletters, press materials, and other written content.
• Maintain and update the WJP website, including annual reviews and updates.

Social Media Management

• Plan, create, and post engaging content and graphics for social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) to support policy and organizing campaigns.
• Monitor social media trends, analytics, and performance metrics to refine strategies and improve engagement.
• Build and manage online communities to foster solidarity among workers and supporters.

Storytelling & Videography:

• Collaborate with workers to document their stories through video, photography, and written formats, ensuring an authentic and ethical representation of their experiences.
• Produce high-quality videos, from storyboarding and filming to editing and publishing, that spotlight worker advocacy and victories.
• Attend organizational events, protests, and interviews to capture real-time content and amplify the organization’s work across digital channels.

Collaboration & Engagement:

• Work closely with workers, organizers, and campaign teams to identify storytelling opportunities.
• Provide training and support to workers who wish to share their stories directly through social media or public platforms.
• Manage photography for actions, events, and publications.
• Collaborate with the WJP team (including the Donor Relations Associate) to develop materials and publications that promote the organization’s work to the public, donors, members, and funders (e.g., fundraising emails, flyers, annual reports, brochures, press packets, postcards, and promotional items)
• Participate in team and programmatic planning meetings and events across WJP programs to support content development and understanding.

Communications Support

• Provide support to the Communication's Director on managing press and general inquiries in English and Spanish.
• Maintaining press, photo, and media archives.

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of proven experience in content management, social media strategy, and videography.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a portfolio demonstrating multimedia projects.
• Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop).
• Ability to establish positive relationships with a variety of people in multicultural environments, including workers from various backgrounds.
• Commitment to social and economic justice, with an understanding of workers’ rights and the leadership of low-income people of color and immigrants. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish required
• Basic understanding of NYC Council, preferred
• Flexible work schedule, some evenings or weekends required and travel throughout New York City;
• Possess a commitment to collective action and community organizing.
• Have experience working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic work environment
• High level of accountability and initiative; needs to be a self-starter and eager to do teamwork to support the organization as a whole.

Compensation and Benefits

Location: Work will be hybrid. Remotely for the day-to-day activities and travel throughout NYC, WJP locations, and surrounding areas, when needed.

Schedule: This role requires the ability to work regular business hours, occasional mornings, nights and weekends.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $75,000/yr.
