The Network is seeking a Senior Attorney to work remotely for its Mid-States Region. This position will focus on the legal and technical issues for the use and exchange of public health data, within the broader context of modernization initiatives for inter-governmental and healthcare data interoperability. As a Mid-States region team member, the attorney will provide legal technical assistance, assess compliance requirements under applicable law, conduct training and Webinars, and facilitate opportunities for networking and peer assistance on topics related to public health data to a variety of audiences, including state, local, tribal and territorial health departments. A preference may be given to attorneys who have prior experience in the drafting of data use agreements and application of relevant data standards, either in public health or healthcare contexts.
The Senior Attorney will work closely with all members of the Mid-States Region, as well as with team members from other regions and the national office. The Senior Attorney will help to identify funding opportunities, assist with grant proposals, help manage project contracts and project deliverables, and perform other duties as assigned.
The Mid-States Region is fully remote, with team members located across the country. Some travel is required for conferences, presentations, trainings, and meetings. The Region values collegiality, professionalism, and consensus in its work and operations.
Attorneys in good standing of the Bar of a U.S. jurisdiction with a minimum of five years of post-law school experience and demonstrated experience in healthcare or public health law, data privacy law, data standards and interoperability, or related legal experience are encouraged to apply.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may supervise research assistants or law students on specific projects, or new attorneys who participate in Network fellowships.

Compensation and Benefits
Location: Work will be primarily performed remote.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000/yr. and is commensurate with experience.
