Overview

Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (https://collectivepowerrj.org/) is a national reproductive justice organization dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring new generations of advocates, leaders, and supporters. Combining activism, organizing, leadership training, and reproductive justice movement building, Collective Power promotes an inclusive agenda that advances reproductive rights and health, and social and economic justice. Collective Power is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE (tsne.org).

Responsibilities

The Program Manager, Emerging Leaders Network (PM-ELN), manages Collective Power’s leadership network for new and emerging activists in the reproductive justice movement, under the direction of the Deputy Director of Programs & Policy (DD-PP). The PM-ELN oversees all aspects of the program, including setting goals for cohort membership; recruitment and the application process; and meeting design, facilitation, and logistics. They will ensure that programming addresses movement-identified needs and current political opportunities, and that the Emerging Leaders Network is a space for critical conversations, accountability, and growth for participants. Additionally, they will lead programming for the Roots of Reproductive Justice community of practice, to facilitate Collective Power’s activist/academic archival collaboration. As the key staff person leading network participation, they will manage engagement with partner organizations across all programs, in line with priorities identified by the DD-PP, including Emerging Leaders, Roots of Reproductive Justice, Collective Rising, conference, Challenging Population Control, and other programs/initiatives to ensure coordination.

 

As a member of the Programs Team, the PM-ELN will provide input on CPRJ's programming.  They will support other program initiatives and program fundraising as needed, and represent CPRJ with allies and supporters.

 

Essential Functions

 

Activist Convenings – 50%

  • Lead planning and implementation for all Emerging Leaders Network (ELN) activities, including at least two regional convenings per year as well as annual week-long Summer Leadership Institute for cohort members;
    • Manage ELN cohort application and selection process; recruitment and relationship-building with partner organizations; and coordination with other Collective Power programs and initiatives.
    • Design, plan, and manage all aspects of planning for ELN convenings, including meeting location selection and regional partnerships.
    • Create ELN meeting agendas and provide facilitation in order to create spaces that meet movement needs.
  • Lead planning and implementation for Roots of Reproductive Justice activities, including in-person and virtual convenings; cohort selection; and liaising with organizational partners;
  • Work with operations staff to manage travel, hotel, space, etc for all activist convenings;
  • Manage program budget and income generating strategies, including developing new programming for emerging leaders.

Organizational Relationships – 30%

  • Under direction of the DD-PP, work with programs team staff to set goals and priorities for engagement with partner organizations across all programs, including Emerging Leaders, Roots of Reproductive Justice, Collective Rising, conference, Challenging Population Control, and other programs/initiatives;
  • Recruit new partner organizations and manage relationships with existing partners;
  • Work with communications and development staff to identify program alumni and partner organizations to highlight in fundraising and organizational communications, profiles, and other materials and events;
  • Maintain accurate data on partner organizations, coalitions, and other organizational participation in national and regional organizing networks;
  • Work with data and communications staff on developing effective communication and networking strategies for Emerging Leaders cohort members and alumni, movement activists, and partner organizations.

Program Support – 10%

  • Provide support and content input for other programming and new initiatives and projects as needed;
  • Participate and provide support for fundraising efforts;
  • Supervise and mentor students who are interns, work study students, or program alumni;
  • Participate and represent Collective Power in activist coalitions and at national meetings;
  • Conduct training and provide facilitation for internal meetings and external peer organizations.

  • At least 5 years of experience leading reproductive justice movement building, organizing and/or scholarship;
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills; experience leading activist or organizing networks required;
  • Alignment with mission and values;
  • Existing connections and ongoing participation in networks with national reproductive justice activists, organizers, and educators is preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds, including people with different racial, ethnic and class backgrounds, people of different genders, and people with disabilities;
  • Must be detail-oriented; able to handle high volume of work; effectively prioritize, multi-task and problem-solve; pay attention to deadlines and details; have good organizational skills; communicate clearly and confidently; must demonstrate flexibility and work well under pressure;
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated experience implementing programs;
  • Must have word processing and data entry skills using Microsoft programs (especially Word and Excel) and Google documents; ability to relay information, messages and correspondence in timely and organized manner; experience using spreadsheets and databases.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 and is commensurate with experience.
