Overview

The Institute for Social and Economic Development (ISED Solutions)(facebook.com/ISEDSolutions/) is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE (tsne.org) in Boston, Massachusetts. For over 20 years, ISED has delivered training and technical assistance services (T&TA) to refugee-serving agencies nationwide that work with refugee small farmers. ISED hosts a national refugee farming listserv, sponsors national conferences, and provides a variety of T&TA services via USDA grants and other resources. ISED recently added a new T&TA service for Community Food Projects (CFP) – a USDA grant program focusing on community-based food and farming initiatives.

 

 

Responsibilities

This position combines a range of administrative/programmatic activities related to CFP as well as financial administration work for all current ISED federal grants.  These are summarized as follows:

 

CFP Program and Operations support

  • Establish and maintain information storage and communication systems for staff and partners;
  • Assist ISED and partner virtual T&TA with grantees, including outreach, scheduling, facilitation, note-taking, and follow-up;
  • Assist planning and delivery of in-person meetings/conferences, including outreach, managing registrations, communication with attendees, on-site support, materials development, and other logistical support;
  • Help conduct outreach to partners and community groups to bolster CFP grant applications;
  • Support CFP grant applicants with proposal preparation;
  • Edit informational and technical assistance documents;
  • Assist evaluation of CFP grantees on their activities and help prepare reports;
  • Update ISED website on regular basis with CFP content;
  • Probable travel to meetings once or twice a year;
  • Provide other as-needed support to Project co-directors.

 

Financials support for all ISED grants:

  • Assist ISED Director and TSNE with financial oversight, planning, budgeting, fundraising, grant managing and analysis;
  • Assist in conducting financial analysis of ISED activities in support of planning and budgeting;
  • Monitor incoming grants and track appropriate spending and allocation of expenses to grants; 
  • Maintain and review TSNE financial reports; 
  • Track expenditures and payments for meetings or conferences; prepare financial reports;
  • Provide other support as needed.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • Excellent attention to detail, administrative, interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills especially in a virtual setting;
  • Experience in managing complex federal funding sources is highly desirable;
  • Experience with Intacct accounting software preferred;
  • Strong computer and technological literacy skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
  • Relevant work experience in community-focused non-profit sector is preferred;
  • Experience with finance and accounting is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be primarily performed hybrid.

Compensation: The starting hourly rate for this position is $30.00 - $32.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience. This is a part-time position 28 hours a week.
