Overview

The Basics (thebasics.org)mission is to pursue both equity and excellence, by building community capacity to engage and support parents and other caregivers of young children in their roles as the most important influences in their children's lives. The Basics is a community-level public health strategy, working within and across organizations to embed The Basics Principles–five evidence-based practices for promoting early childhood development–into routine family engagement efforts.

 

The Basics Boston is a member of a national Basics Learning Network of communities, led by The Basics, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Boston, where the movement began. The Basics is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE (tsne.org).

Responsibilities

The Basics Boston seeks an energetic and committed candidate to assist with coordination and administration of The Boston Basics Alliance. The Alliance engages organizations, providers, parents, and caregivers from across Boston to engage and support families with children 5 years of age and younger, with information, encouragement, and reminders to make The Basics 5 Principles part of their everyday routines. The Program Coordinator will provide administrative and operational assistance to The Basics Boston staff and program leaders of the Alliance. The work involves managing communications and scheduling agendas, updating website materials, monitoring social media, and related duties. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate development and timely dissemination of information to Alliance members.
  • Maintain Alliance calendar; Research and solicit input from area providers of services to families with young children.
  • Oversee member registry and provide orientation to new registrants.
  • Assist with convening of regularly scheduled member meetings, including creation and circulation of agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Contribute to social media output and updates.
  • Assist with outreach and engagement of Alliance members; Help foster relationships and promotion of the Alliance in the Boston area.
  • Assist with the data collection and reporting on the work and impact of the Alliance.
  • Ensure prompt updates of website information.
  • Coordinate ordering and distribution of materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or comparable work experience)
  • Experience with social media postings in a professional capacity.
  • Ability to work on projects both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to:

  • Handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate;

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be primarily performed remote. Work is eligible for 100% remote work.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 37.5 hours/week

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $49,421/yr - $58,202/yr. and is commensurate with experience.
