Overview

The Public Finance Initiative (PFI), a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE, works with communities and their stakeholders to develop research, education, and technical assistance programs that center the values of equity, sustainability, and inclusive growth in the domain of public finance.

 

TSNE (formerly Third Sector New England) (tsne.org) is a management support organization that partners every year with hundreds of nonprofits, foundations, community-based groups, and others working for social change. Our mission is to provide information and services to build the knowledge, power, and effectiveness of individuals, organizations, and groups that engage people in community and public life. The ultimate intention of TSNE’s work is to create a more just and democratic society.

Responsibilities

The Program Manager will be responsible for serving as the lead person charged with working with the Executive Director of PFI on the day-to-day management and implementation of PFI’s Bond Markets and Racial Equity project (the “Project”). This Program Manager will ensure that the initiative is successfully implemented in accordance to the goals, strategic objectives, timeline, and budgetary parameters that are set by the Executive Director and the lead funder for the project. Additional responsibilities include effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, proactively resolving challenges, and serving as the lead manager of project plans. The Program Manager will report to the Executive Director of PFI and will work closely with a diverse group of national and local Project stakeholders. This position is currently funded for three years.

 

Project Management

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Project ensuring the timely implementation of activities and completion of the deliverables and outcomes.
  • Develop and track project plans, timelines, activities, benchmarks, progress, and metrics aligned with the Project’s overall goals and deliverables.
  • Identify, prioritize, and proactively resolve challenges to minimize impact to the project goals and timeline.
  • Ensure all deliverables are on-time, within scope, for various Project partners.
  • Manage and facilitate recurring check-in meetings of Project stakeholders, together with the Executive Director of PFI, which will be established to ensure collaborations processes are clear and support all partners on progress reporting and advancing Project outcomes.
  • Facilitate and participate in virtual interviews and other virtual meetings and gatherings with external government and private sector audiences engaged in the Project work and assist in the preparation of meeting materials (agendas, PowerPoints, etc.) as needed.
  • Travel to key events and meetings where mutually agreeable to the Program Manage and safe per the COVID-19 global health landscape.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation (stakeholder maps, etc.)
  • Participate in virtual internal team meetings with PFI’s Executive Director focused on strategic planning for future phases of work on the Project.

Research, Communications, and Reporting

  • Monitor online news sources to identify important and emerging trends and changes in the landscape of the Project focus area.
  • Join virtual focus groups with government officials and private sector stakeholders related to the Project and participate in the coordination, development, and reporting of pre-meeting and post-meeting materials and collective analysis to stakeholders.
  • Together with the Executive Director, provide regular updates of the Project’s progress and activities to all relevant parties and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the coordination of Project announcements and media with communications staff.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

 

  • Two to five years of professional experience in any field implementing time-bound strategic initiatives;
  • Prior experience working and engaging with government officials and government constituents;
  • Strong writing, communications, and research skills and the ability to gather, analyze, synthesize, and communicate information from various sources;
  • Highly effective time-management, goal-setting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills;
  • Excellent listening, writing, and speaking skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment; strong awareness to intercultural effectiveness and relations;
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomatic and communication skills;
  • Resilience and ability to think clearly and rationally in stressful situations in a constantly evolving environment while maintaining an atmosphere of respect and professionalism at all times with all partners and team members;
  • Ability to travel nationally on occasion as needs arise.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be performed remote from your home office.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $75,000/yr and is commensurate with experience.
