Future Chefs ( prepares Boston high school students to leave high school ready for quality employment and post-secondary education. With a focus on positive youth development, Future Chefs provides culinary training and authentic work-based learning to prepare teens with the hard skills they will need to succeed in the culinary industry, and most importantly the job readiness skills to succeed in any field.


Future Chefs’ model is based on the belief that every student is unique and flourishes in respectful, safe, stimulating settings that provide opportunities for growth, and relationships with caring, supportive adults who honor students’ lived experiences.  Future Chefs is a fiscally-sponsored project of TSNE ( .


This is a new position, as Future Chefs grows its development department. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will participate in shaping the strategy and future direction of the development department’s fundraising efforts. This person will build a portfolio to make direct solicitations for significant contributions. They will design/execute and evaluate a strategy to increase individual and institutional fundraising and engagement in order to support Future Chefs’ growth in programs and help close out the current capital campaign. This person will also prepare the Executive Director for solicitations. The Director of Development will also support the fundraising capacity of the Advisory Council and help to recruit members who are effective and representative of the community we serve. Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement the overarching fundraising strategy to secure the resources needed to grow and sustain the mission of Future Chefs;
  • Design and manage strategies for growth of Future Chefs prospect pipeline for major donors and institutional funders to both annual and capital campaigns;
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and attain reasonable stretch goals for annual amount raised and number of donors; 
  • Manage and implement the cultivation, solicitation and stewarding process for a portfolio of major gift donors and support the Executive Director in their individual major donor work, including making individual solicitations;
  • Prepare the Executive Director for donor meetings and asks;
  • Oversee fundraising events strategy and advise on other events that may serve to cultivate and steward donors;
  • Help build the capacity of Future Chefs’ Advisory Council to identify and invite new donors;
  • Provide direction on the effective use of a CRM to support donor cultivation; 
  • Collaborate with the Development and Finance Manager and the Communications Manager on donor communications and agency-wide marketing efforts;
  • Work collaboratively with the Development and Finance Manager to set fundraising stretch goals to support Future Chefs growth;
  • Work with the Development Team to successfully execute the public and final phase of a comprehensive capital campaign.

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated success in closing major gifts for an organization with an annual budget of $1.5- $2 million;
  • Proven experience in designing and managing an individual fundraising strategy. Capital campaign experience is a plus;
  • Demonstrated capacity for developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and potential prospects;
  • Ability to motivate and train volunteers;
  • Capacity to work effectively in an adaptive environment with evolving priorities, both as a leader and part of a team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some night and weekend events;
  • Commitment to social justice and a passion for service.

Compensation and Benefits


Location: Will have access to an office at 305 Blue Hill Avenue and work primarily in person as needed when the office re-opens. Work is currently remote due to COVID-19. This position includes occasional evening or weekend hours for special events.

Compensation: Salary range, $85,000 - $100,000, based on experience.
