Overview

Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) grew out of an effort to draw on the wonderful ethnic and cultural diversity of the Mattapan community to promote a healthy living environment, with a focus on access to healthy foods and the promotion of physical fitness for all ages. Positive changes in these areas complement other efforts to decrease health problems like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other health conditions that plague our community.

 

Mission Statement: MFFC promotes health and healthy behaviors by improving the nutritional and physical activity environments for Mattapan by bringing health and wellness options for residents. Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE (tsne.org).

Responsibilities

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator position will be responsible for bringing awareness to the mission and vision of Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition through digital and physical communication channels.

 

Essential Functions

  • Own the rebrand for MFFC which includes MFFC’s logo, colors, fonts and create a document to house the information;
  • Create and manage a wide range of marketing materials: annual reports, powerpoint presentations, newsletters (through Constant Contact), business cards, social media posts and graphics, flyers, email messages, etc;
  • Maintain the MFFC website and social meeting pages, ensuring programmatic updates, stories, blogs, and events are posted regularly;
  • Craft clear, compelling communications to our volunteers, members,  funders, and community residents with a focus on seniors;
  • Assist with quarterly Google Analytics and social media analytics reports;
  • Work with MFFCs leadership team and volunteers on marketing and communications for MFFCs event, activities, and services;
  • Attend MFFC’s events, programming, and activities;
  • Attend check in meetings with Executive Director;
  • Provide other marketing and communication support as needed.

Qualifications

We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing, branding, design, and/or communications;
  • Commitment to the mission of MFFC;
  • Professional or volunteer experience in/for community based organization;
  • Organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and able to multitask and work independently;
  • Comfortable with technology; and enthusiastic about social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram);
  • Experience with Constant Contact, Canva, website development specifically WIX preferred, and Google Analytics;
  • Able to create social media posts and produce high quality graphics;
  • Experience using social media for advocacy and/or in a professional setting;
  • Able to write clearly and concisely, excellent communication skills;
  • Able to work independently;
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment from a home office if you chose to work from home;
  • Able to week some weekends and evening preferred;
  • Bilingual in Haitian Creole and/or Spanish preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

 

Location: Work will be primarily performed 100% remote (Mattapan Food and Fitness is currently working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our office is available to use if needed.) This position is part-time and will work between 5-10 hours per week on average.

Compensation: The starting salary for this position is $15- $17 per hour and is commensurate with experience.

Benefits: This position is not eligible for benefits.
