  • Overview

Uprooted & Rising is a new movement to end higher education’s support for Big Food and white supremacy in the food system and direct our generation’s energy towards food sovereignty. We are currently supporting several campaigns to expose and oppose Big Food on college campuses across the United States. Uprooted & Rising is also a leader of the Real Meals Campaign, calling out cafeteria contractors Aramark, Sodexo and Compass Group for their ties to big food and demanding access to campuses for community producers, particularly producers of color.

Real Food Generation (www.realfoodgen.org), whose mission is to harness the power of youth and universities for a just and sustainable food system, is the organizational home of Uprooted & Rising, and is in turn a fiscally sponsored program of TSNE MissionWorks (www.tsne.org).

The Core Team Organizer (CTOs) Program is a 3-12 month opportunity for leaders in Uprooted & Rising to focus substantial time to progressing the movement through deep project-based work at the national or regional level and to gain experience as part-time staff in a movement organization. Each CTO will be assigned a unique project or set of projects. CTOs take initiative, problem-solve on the fly and work with a diverse, geographically dispersed team.
