    Future Chefs (www.futurechefs.net) prepares Boston teens to leave high school ready for quality employment and post-secondary education. With a focus on youth development, Future Chefs provides culinary training and authentic work-based learning to prepare teens with the hard skills they will need to succeed in the culinary industry, and the job readiness skills to succeed in any industry. Future Chefs’ model is based on the belief that every student is unique and flourishes in settings that provide high expectations, opportunities for growth, and positive interactions with adults. Future Chefs is a fiscally-sponsored project of TSNE MissionWorks (www.tsne.org).


    This is a new position, as Future Chefs grows its development department. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will build a portfolio to make direct solicitations for significant contributions, and design/execute a strategy to increase individual fundraising and engagement in order to support Future Chefs’ growth in programs and the current capital campaign. This person will also prepare the Executive Director for her individual solicitations. The person hired will participate in shaping the future direction of the position and its place in Future Chefs’ development strategy. This position is ideal for those who thrive in a dynamic, innovative organization with compassionate, driven colleagues. This is an exempt, less-than-half time position.


    Essential Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement the overarching individual fundraising strategy to advance the goals and resources in order to grow and sustain the mission of Future Chefs;
    • Design and manage strategies for growth of an individual prospect pipeline including the research, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for donors for both annual and capital campaigns;
    • Work with Executive Director to develop reasonable stretch goals for annual amount raised and number of donors;
    • Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of major gift donors for your own asks and for the Executive Director, making face-to-face asks;
    • Prepare Executive Director for asks;
    • Advise on events strategy;
    • Help build the capacity of Future Chefs’ Advisory Council to identify and invite new donors;
    • Provide direction on the effective use of a CRM to support donor cultivation;
    • Collaborate with the Development and Finance Manager on donor communications/agency-wide marketing efforts;
    • Work collaboratively with Development and Finance Manager to set fundraising stretch goals to support a growing program.

    Who You Are


    You have 2 to 3 years’ experience of demonstrated success in closing gifts. You are a committed development professional, excited about helping a small organization grow and expand its individual fundraising. You are comfortable in an informal and dynamic atmosphere, and would like to put your substantial skills to use in a part-time position.


    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • A minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated success in closing major gifts;
    • Proven experience in designing and managing an individual fundraising strategy. Capital campaign experience a plus;
    • Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and potential prospects;
    • Capacity to work effectively in an environment with evolving priorities, both as a leader and part of a team;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some night and weekend events;
    • Healthy sense of humor, and an ability to have fun while working hard;
    • Commitment to social justice and a passion for service.
