    Future Chefs (www.futurechefs.net) prepares high school-aged youth in the Greater Boston Area for quality employment and post-secondary opportunities in the culinary field and supports them in developing broad base transferable career skills for the working world. With its primary focus on youth development, Future Chefs provides culinary training and authentic hands-on experience working with culinary professionals in some of Boston’s top restaurants. Future Chefs learn in an environment that instills a mindset of success along with civic responsibility. Future Chefs’ model is based on the belief that every student is unique and flourishes in settings that provide: high expectations, opportunities for growth, and positive interactions with adults. Future Chefs is a fiscally-sponsored project of TSNE MissionWorks (www.tsne.org). 


    A key position reporting to Development and Finance Manager (DFM), the Development and Operations Associate provides daily coordination and administration for all development and operations activities. Primary responsibilities are to support the DFM and ED in managing individual and institutional giving by supporting donor outreach, donor correspondence, prospect research, gift processing, data management, solicitations, and events, providing administrative support to both program and executive staff, and organizational operations.


    The Development and Operations Associate is responsible for assisting in and supporting fundraising, finance, and organizational operations. This employee will report to the Development and Finance Manager.

    You are interested in pursuing a career in the nonprofit sector in development, finance or operations. With a passion for social justice, you are committed to working on the issues that affect our target population, Boston’s low-income youth of color, and are familiar with the community in Roxbury and Dorchester.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintains the accuracy and integrity of database (Salesforce) by ensuring that all information is kept current and up to date including individual donations, grants, in-kind donations, donor and grantee information;
    • Troubleshoots database issues;
    • Provides reports and information from database as requested;
    • Coordinates and administers operations of all donor/grantor communications and appeals including hardcopy and digital mailings, and thank you letters;
    • Assists with grant-writing and submission, research on potential grantors, and keeps calendar of grants deadlines;
    • Edits, copy edits, and proofreads all types of development, financial, and communications materials;
    • Provides operational support for fundraising events including guest lists, in-kind donations, signage, logistics, etc.;
    • Provides administrative support by creating documents, spreadsheets, flyers and materials;
    • Keeps documents in cloud storage organized;
    • Reconciles expense receipts and reimbursement for monthly credit card substantiation;
    • Manages incoming and outgoing mail and voicemail;
    • Ensures office supplies are ordered and stocked;
    • Other job duties as requires.


    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • Experience in Salesforce or other donor databases, Excel and Word.
    • Ability to work flexible work hours including some evenings, holidays and weekends.
    • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills as needed for meeting deadlines.
    • Excellent attention to detail in order to maintain integrity of information, track deadlines, and proofread.
    • Professional demeanor whether speaking to others in person, over the phone, or in written communication.
    • Works well alone as well as under direct supervision.
    • Two or more years of administrative experience.
