Lawrence Dream Network (www.tsne.org/lawrence-dream-network) is a network of individuals, the goal of which is to provide culturally competent training, mentoring, and coaching to youth and young adults, parents and professionals in Lawrence. Currently the leadership of most city institutions are not led by community reflective leaders or residents, despite their being a pool of educated, qualified individuals residing in the city. Lawrence Dream Network is challenging this structure by focusing on coalition building and allyship to foster empowerment among individuals impacted by social inequities. Lawrence Dream Network is a fiscally sponsored organziation of TSNE MissionWorks (www.tsne.org).


To provide companionship and encouragement to returning citizens to help identify and address risk factors for re-incarceration, engage in pro-social activities that foster successful re-integration into community life, and cope with the employment challenges that arise on the job. This position reports to the Executive Director. 



  • Have one face-to-face and one group interaction per month with mentees.
  • Commit to maintaining the mentoring relationship for 6 to 12 months.
  • Respect the mentee's time, opinions, feelings and choices.
  • Contact the mentee in a timely manner about any schedule changes.
  • Engage in open, honest dialogue that balances active, respectful listening with information about alternative perspectives and choices.
  • Provide connections to healthy, pro-social community activities, people and resources.
  • Maintain interpersonal boundaries that establish clarity about your role as a mentor and ensure safety for all parties involved.



This is a part-time position working one hour per week.


We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
  • Formerly incarcerated individuals are encouraged to apply - must be at least 4 years post-incarceration.
