    Community Boat Building’s (CBB) (www.communityboatbuilding.org) mission is to bring real world experience and academic skills together to stimulate an excitement for learning among low-income students in Boston Public Schools through boat building and coastal experiences.

     

    Our programs help underserved students connect in-classroom learning with a tangible project, making learning real and relevant. The skills they develop have a transformative impact that is transferable to school, future employment, and throughout life. Taking students out of their classroom and engaging them in hands-on learning makes their world bigger and brings learning to life.

     

    CBB is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE MissionWorks (www.tsne.org).

    Responsibilities

    The CBB Grant-Writer/Communications Director is a part-time position that is responsible for grant writing, communications, and administrative tasks.

    • Draft and revise proposals for funding;
    • Manage reporting and ongoing communications with supporting foundations;
    • Provide strategic input to and execute fundraising plan;
    • Maintain donor relations;
    • Draft and revise correspondence with CBB constituents;
    • Help design and execute PR/social media plan;
    • Work with fiscal sponsor to ensure proper communication surrounding funding, budgeting, and reporting;
    • Lead and/or participate in other projects (Funder events, educational conferences, promotional events and shows, etc.) as requested by Executive Director.

    This position reports to the Executive Director. This is a part-time position at approximately 22 hours per week. 

     

    Qualifications

    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • Strong written and communications skills;
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred;
    • Demonstrated success writing grants and managing reporting;
    • Passion for CBB’s mission and experiential education;
    • Attention to detail;
    • Basic knowledge of fundraising strategies and resources.
