    Ada Developers Academy (ADA) (www.adadevelopersacademy.org), located in downtown Seattle, provides an intensive software developer training program for women and gender non-binary students with little or no prior software development experience. In one year, students are taught programming techniques and best practices to enable them to become junior developers. The program consists of two distinct parts - six months in the Ada classroom, and five months of internship at local sponsor companies where students refine their skills working on real-world code. Ada is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE MissionWorks. Our mission is to diversify Tech by providing women and gender diverse people the skills, experience, and community support to become professional software developers who contribute to changing the world with software

    The newly created role of Philanthropy and Communications Program Manager (PM) partners with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Development on establishing strategy and executing Ada’s fundraising efforts. The PM works in partnership with the Director to create a strong base of financial support through major gifts, corporate support, events, and grants. The ideal candidate will be a natural relationship-builder and effective communicator, highly organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The Program Manager will have demonstrated success in personally soliciting meaningful contributions and in supporting others to successfully fundraise.


    • Philanthropy Planning: Work with the Director to create and implement a multi-year development strategy and plan that maximizes financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations;
    • Philanthropy Programs: Plan and execute fund appeals through multimedia approaches, including GiveBig, annual appeal, email, social media, etc;
    • Donor Stewardship: Manage a personal portfolio of donors, stewarding connection, communication and engagement through moves management;
    • Grants Management: Execute all aspects of grant management from prospect research and identification, grant writing and acknowledgement and ongoing grant reporting. Work with a contracted Grant Writer for some larger more demanding grant packets;
    • Donor Communication: Facilitate the ongoing connection with our donor community, including story development and collateral design to help share our messaging with the Ada community;
    • Data Management: Maintain effective donor information including serving as our primary point of contact for our database management (Salesforce). Create reports and share information that helps support Ada’s philanthropy efforts;
    • Special Events: Lead and/or support the planning and execution of fundraising events such as house receptions, fundraisers, other donor stewardship opportunities.


    • Website, e-newsletter and social media: Lead our efforts to ensure that Ada’s online and social media presence is effective. Gather news-worthy information from Ada colleagues for use in regular newsletters, marketing and PR efforts, Newsletters, etc.;
    • Tool development: Design and create marketing and communications materials including for the purpose of sharing the Ada mission and story with prospective company partners, donors and community members. (i.e., talking points, scripts, presentations, videos, testimonies, etc.) and individual donor solicitation and stewardship (i.e., agendas, talking points, presentations, proposals, testimonies, etc.);
    • Lead or support the development of communication tools for fundraising event;
    • Photograph/video program: Capture Ada’s stories and history through video or photographic content of our activities and events for use in marketing, media, social media, and development material.


    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.


    Your background includes:

    • 2+ years of experience as a working professional in philanthropy;
    • Proven track record in fundraising, ideally including grants, major gifts, annual appeals, and events;
    • Working knowledge of Washington’s philanthropic community and its funding priorities;
    • Experience working with nonprofit boards and building relationships with donors.

    What we expect you’ll bring to the job:

    • Demonstrated passion for Ada’s mission;
    • You enjoy building things from scratch and are excited about working in a new position;
    • Strong experience building relationships and cultivating donors on behalf a mission driven organization;
    • Strong attention to detail including ability and experience in tracking, managing and reporting on donor activity. SalesForce experience would be a big plus;
    • Understanding of moves management and foundational fundraising concepts;
    • Inspirational communication and interpersonal skills with exceptional writing and editing ability, able to make complex concepts digestible for a broad audience;
    • Excellent social media and social media marketing skills;
    • Understanding of current philanthropic communications strategies, including storytelling, social media engagement, etc.;
    • Resourcefulness in setting priorities, multi-tasking, and improving processes;
    • Comfort working with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives;
    • Strong skills in use of productivity tools (G-Suite, Slack, etc.) to help organize your work and ours.
