  • Overview

    The Early Childhood Funders Collaborative is a project fiscally sponsored by TSNE Missionworks. For over 25 years, the Early Childhood Funders collaborative has been a place for grant-makers to come together to learn about the latest research, program innovations, and policy affecting young children (birth to 8) and their families. Members align their resources for common good and speak out on behalf of young children and their families. ECFC Members share successes and lessons with each other. Our strength is in the community we have developed among foundations who genuinely want to share and collaborate for change. ECFC has two primary goals for our work together:

    1. We will increase the effectiveness of philanthropic investment in systemic, equity-focused approaches to early childhood.
    2. We will promote federal, state, and local policies and practices that support young children, their families, and the early childhood community.

    ECFC was established in 1992 to improve collaboration among funders, foster peer learning, identify issues of common concern, and incubate ideas for advancing the field. Growing from eleven original members to nearly 30 foundations, today ECFC is comprised of national, regional, state, and local foundations with a demonstrated investment priority in early childhood development and learning.


    The Program Manager will develop programs to support the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals. He/she will developing budgets and operating plans for programs, as well as supervising staff or consultants as needed.  He/she may develop grant proposals as needed to pursue funding for projects.   


    Key projects may include, but not be limited to: ECFC's website and electronic communications,  ECFC meetings and conferences,  collaborative projects with ECFC members, and developing and managing learning and action networks.

    Program Manager Responsibilities

    • Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of ECFC;
    • Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of ECFC;
    • Creating and managing long-term goals;
    • Developing a budget and operating plan for the program;
    • Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement;
    • Writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services;
    • Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities;
    • Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved;
    • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services;
    • Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle;
    • Analyzing program risks;
    • Working on strategy with the Executive Director, including consultation with ECFC leaders and members.

    Program Manager Requirements

    • Bachelor degree or master degree in health, human services, or related field;
    • Proven experience in program management;
    • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and management of collaborative endeavors;
    • Proven experience managing projects to successful completion, including supervision of staff and consultants;
    • Experience with writing for the web and producing website content;
    • Experience producing successful learning events- both virtual and in-person; 
    • Competency in computer applications relevant to the job, including the Microsoft Office suite, WordPress, videoconferencing platforms, and other virtual communication products;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
