  • Overview

    Maine Food Strategy is a statewide initiative to strengthen Maine’s food system in 5 goal areas.  The initiative seeks applicants to a part-time temporary position to assist in researching programs, projects and/or businesses that are achieving measurable results towards one or more of the initiative’s goals.

     

    Using a performance measurement system called Results Based Accountability (RBA), Maine Food Strategy, in tandem with the five other New England states, will be tracking and communicating data on how our food system is changing and identifying projects, programs and businesses that are having a measurable impact on moving the food system towards goals.

     

    The successful candidate to this position will learn about performance measurement systems, Results Based Accountability and how to use these tools to improve the effectiveness of organizations, businesses and initiatives.

    Maine Food Strategy is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE MissionWorks.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Schedule up to 10 interviews with key contacts at organizations identified by MFS staff;
    • Conduct up to 10 interviews using scripted questions provided by MFS and record interview notes;
    • Develop up to 10 “case studies” on select programs or projects using a format provided by MFS, including soliciting photos from interviewees to use with the “case studies”;
    • Develop content to promote “case studies” on social media, newsletters, website, etc;
    • Develop a blog series and/or other social media venues or tools that educate people about the RBA process and encourage partners to contribute their own Performance Measures.

     

    This is a virtual position and the successful candidate must be able to work independently and have access to a computer, phone, and internet.

    Qualifications

    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • Effective communication and phone skills;
    • Strong writing skills;
    • Ability to meet deadlines;
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.


    The following qualifications are desirable but not required

    • B.A. in food studies, communications, sociology or political science;
    • Familiarity with Google Drive and the use of shared online documents;
    • Familiarity with zoom.us, gotomeeting or other teleconferencing tools desirable;
    • Knowledge of Maine’s food system, and food systems development;
    • Marketing and graphic design skills.
