    The payroll associate will provide support to the payroll and finance departments, as needed.

    • Process the organization’s biweekly Timecards in accordance with internal policies and procedures and all government rules and regulations. Review Timecards information for completeness and accuracy;
    • Process new hire and termination in Timecards, set up proper manager groups;
    • Work with Grants Finance Managers (GFMs) on salary and wage’s cost allocations each payroll cycle. Set up timecards for Government Fund users; follow up with ongoing training and reviewing;
    • Support users for timecards questions or issues. Train new employees on use of Government Funds timecards, help with log-on issues and how to access pay statements and W-2s;
    • Run Timecards reports for GFMs, accountants, or project managers as needed;
    • Serve as liaison among GFMs, Project managers or HR to resolve and address issues relating to the timecards;
    • Provide assistance pertaining to timecards records for year-end audit to TSNE accounting staff and auditors;
    • Process data-interface of biweekly payroll and monthly accrual payroll entries for both internal and Fiscal Sponsorship projects; reconcile payroll report to General Ledger. Audit and balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies;
    • Protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential;
    • Stay abreast of and learn (through reading, attending trainings or peer learning opportunities) policies, rules and regulations around state taxes, year-end reporting and current economic stimulus package, etc.;
    • Undertake other tasks that are consistent with the position, as assigned.


    We will consider exceptional candidates who demonstrate a strong combination of the specific qualifications and skills described below.

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) is required;
    • Payroll experience is preferred;
    • Prior work experience in a nonprofit organization is strongly preferred;
    • Knowledge of accounting/payroll concepts, practices and procedures;
    • Proficiency in the use of Excel and Word is required;
    • Knowledge of ADP or other payroll system is a plus;
    • A commitment to the work of social and economic justice organizations;
    • Ability to pay close and accurate attention to detail;
    • Ability to work independently and function as part of a team;
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
